SUPREP PREP FOR COLONOSCOPY

 

  • You have been scheduled for a colonoscopy with your physician at one of our surgery centers.  If you were not given a date and/or time for your procedure at the doctors office, please call 228-872-6291 to schedule your appointment. 

 

  • If you were given a time and/or date at the doctors office, this is a tentative appointment and the time may change.  A staff member from the surgery center will be calling you the day before your procedure with your arrival time.  If you have not heard from them by 2pm the day before your procedure please call 228-872-6291. 

  • Your driver must be present at check-in and he/she must stay on the premises until your procedure is completed and you are discharged.  Otherwise, your procedure may be cancelled.  This is for your safety; you will be placed under general anesthesia during your procedure. 

  • Notify the nurse if you are taking any of the following medications.  You may be required to stop these medications eight days before your procedure or as instructed by your doctor.

  • Coumadin, Ascriptin, Advil, Plavix, Goody's, BC Powder, Heparin, Vanquish, Alka Seltzer, Aspirin, Darvon, Aleve, Celebrex, Vitamin E, Iron Supplement, Mobic, Fish Oil

  • If you have any questions or you need to cancel/reschedule your procedure, please call 228-872-6291. 

DAY BEFORE PROCEDURE

  • YOU WILL NEED TO FILL YOUR PRESCRIPTION FOR SUPREP

  • YOU MAY HAVE A LIGHT BREAKFAST BEFORE 9:00 A.M. THE DAY BEFORE YOUR PROCEDURE. AFTER BREAKFAST, CLEAR LIQUIDS ONLY  (i.e., CHICKEN BROTH, JELL-O, POPSICLES, SPRITE, GATORADE, WATER, ETC). 

  • DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING THAT IS RED, PURPLE OR GREEN. 

  • DO NOT TAKE ANY DIABETIC MEDICATIONS (BY MOUTH OR INJECTION) THE DAY BEFORE YOUR PROCEDURE.

  • DRINK AT LEAST 8 OZ. OF CLEAR LIQUIDS EVERY HOUR. 

  • PREPARATION SCHEDULE:

  • FIRST DOSE:  12 HOURS PRIOR TO SECOND DOSE

  • Start Suprep regimen by completing steps 1 through 4 (included with Suprep) using one (1) 6 oz bottle of Suprep. 

  • Drink two (2) additional 16 oz cups of clear liquid after the first Suprep dose (total of 32 oz) drink as much as possible. 

  • Second Dose - 6 hrs prior to your procedure

  • Repeat steps 1 through 4 with the remaining 6 oz bottle of Suprep. 

  • Drink two (2) additional 16 oz cups of clear liquid after the second Suprep dose (total of 32 oz). 

  • Nothing by mouth 4 hours prior to arrival time given to you by the surgery center scheduling personnel.  Take blood pressure or heart medication as directed with a SIP of water.

DAY OF PROCEDURE

  • Do not drink anything 4 hours prior to arrival time.

  • Tap water or fleet enema per rectum until stool is clear liquid.

  • Take blood pressure and heart medication with sip of water.

  • Do not take Diabetic medication (by mouth or injection).

  • If you have a partial or full dental plate, please do not use adhesive.  Your plate will have to be removed prior to your procedure.

  • Your driver must be present at check-in and he/she must stay on the premises until your procedure is completed and you are discharged.  Otherwise, your procedure maybe cancelled.  This is for your safety; you will be placed under general anesthesia during your procedure. 

  • You must bring your picture ID  current insurance card, and any applicable co-pay with you the day of procedure.  Your procedure may be cancelled without these items.  Please call 228-872-6291 if you have any questions.

  • If the patient is under the age of 18 they must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian.

  • If the patient is a minor child who has been adopted or is in foster care you must bring the court order giving you authorization to seek medical care.

  • You will be required to talk to your doctor after the procedure.  Please be aware that the wait could be up to 1 hour.
