Clinical Trials & Research Studies
"This treatment could be just right for you."
Digestive Health Center has been recognized as a leader in research and clinical trials & investigations in digestive diseases and gastrointestinal disorders, and is one of the few study sites on the gulf coast of Mississippi.
The Research Division of Digestive Health Center comprises physicians, registered nurses, and clinical research coordinators who have years of experience in safely performing clinical trials.
We conduct our clinical research in strict accordance with the regulations of the Food and Drug Administration and a study specific Institutional Review Board.
Research studies offer our patients an opportunity to take advantage of exciting new medications and other treatments for variety of conditions. We select trials based on their perceived potential merit to our patients.
Obviously, participation in these trials is completely voluntary. Deciding to take part in a research study is an important decision. A crucial component of this decision involves discussion with a DHC associate and a review of a document detailing the current treatments available, rationale for why the new therapy is being considered, the perceived potential risks and benefits of participation, the responsibilities of the treating physician, and the patient's rights.
Pharmaceutical companies sponsor most of our research studies. Depending on the particular trial, the pharmaceutical companies will often cover the cost of medications, office visits, and laboratory studies for patients. It is important for patients to understand that these companies will also reimburse Digestive Health Center for study visits.
